ABOUT Lucky Lauridsen

Brassall, QLD

I am Lucky. I am an Ultra runner (45km+) Obstacle Course Racer, Volunteer and I Judge these events.

Lucky is a silly name isn't it?

Let me prove something. Have you ever asked what I've accomplished? What was my last race? What made me scared..?

If what I do seems hard; have you considered supporting me?

For those that don't know;

I was dealt a 'bad hand'. I am the underdog. I was runt of the litter on the sports feild at school and this continues well into my adult hobbies and career. Somehow above all odds, I am considered an "elite" compeditor. I am up against absolute professionals and the best-of-the-best Australia, NZ and international visitors.

A typical week for me is juggling full time work, indoor rock climbing, plyometrics and running well beyond 100kms a week. The financial burden has become too great.

These events are tough. They test your breaking point. These races represent 0.1% of what goes on behind the scenes. Training in all weather conditions, through injury, when you don't want to and when the financial burden between a social life and training becomes too much.

These races are a representation of my resilience, endurance and refusal to quit. Showing that the 'runt' can get it done. It's not a fight for number 1 is a fight to be there and be heard to hold your own against a Goliath.

Competing at this level is a dream I have earned reached only through hard work. Getting here however has reached significant costs: Thousands are spent yearly on shoe rotation, race entries, my own training and support crews, when injured, speciality Drs and recovery teams. International travel and accommodation is some of the cheapest expenses for 2026.

This sport isn't funded the same as traditional sports such as Rugby/Cricket/Golf ect. I carry the financial weight myself.

All I asked is for a simple donation; you can stay on the couch.

Here's a little break down:

A donation of $1 is a pat on the back, cheering at the tops of your lungs or a simple handshake. This is all I asked from each and every one of you.

$5 would be getting an extra couple pieces of fruit or energy bar to help me with my training.

$20 gets me something like a pair of socks. This can be race ending. Cheap will get you blisters. Quality lets you finish the race after 6+ hours of mud, dirt and sweat.

$50 would greatly see some expenses minimised. From everyday items to the big bad and ugly bills that come with competing.

$100 Don't you dare. Not in this economy. It will be refunded.
