UNSW Wests Water Polo Club is more than just a team – it’s a proud community with a rich history and a record of success. Established in 1965, UNSW Wests is recognized as one of Australia’s most successful water polo clubs. We field teams at every level, from young juniors taking their first shots to senior men’s and women’s squads competing in elite competitions. This wide reach means our entire club family – juniors, seniors, men and women – will benefit from the project. Now, to continue our legacy and support every player, we’ve launched the UNSW Wests Equipment and Facilities Fund. Why are we fundraising? Like any sports club, having the right equipment is fundamental to our success. Over the years, our water polo balls have worn smooth and our goal cages and training gear have endured heavy use. Replacing and upgrading this equipment is vital. High-quality balls with good grip, reliable goal nets, and modern training aids (such as passing targets and conditioning tools) are integral to maintaining and improving our level of play.  They allow us to run safe, efficient practices and host games or scrimmages without worrying about faulty gear. In short, new equipment will dramatically improve the training experience and performance for every UNSW Wests player – whether it’s a 10-year-old just learning the game or a national league athlete chasing another championship. What will your donation do? Every dollar raised through this fund will go directly towards purchasing much-needed equipment and enhancing our facilities. For example, your support will help us buy: <ul><li>Water Polo Balls: We need a large supply of men’s, women’s, and junior-sized balls. New balls will ensure that all teams have enough to train effectively (no more scrambling for a ball during drills!) and that game play is with top-quality, grippy balls that build confidence and skill.</li></ul> <ul><li>Goal Cages and Nets: Sturdy, reliable goal posts are essential for both training and competitions. Additional goal cages will allow us to scrimmage with full sets of goals at each end of the pool, and new nets will replace any worn-out ones to keep players safe and the game fair.</li></ul> <ul><li>Training Aids: We plan to acquire training equipment like shot clocks, passing targets, weighted balls for strength training, and other aids that modern clubs use to gain a competitive edge. These tools will help our coaches develop players’ skills more efficiently and keep practices engaging for all age groups.</li></ul> By upgrading our gear, we also invest in the future of UNSW Wests. Better equipment means our juniors can develop strong fundamentals, our developing players can hone their skills, and our elite teams can continue to excel on the big stage. It also enables us to host home tournaments or community water polo events, showcasing our club and attracting new members, without being limited by lack of equipment. In essence, your contribution helps every aspect of the club – from the grassroots to the glory games.
