    ABOUT Matilda Harris

In March 2025 I started playing Flag Football with my brother and sister in a local competition. At first, I wasn’t that interested in it. After the first season I honestly thought it might not be for me. I didn’t get much opportunity to show what I could do, and I felt like people didn’t realise that I could actually run and catch.

Then in November 2025 my parents encouraged me to play in an all-girls Under 17 competition. That’s when everything changed. I had an absolute blast and discovered how much I love this sport.

In December I decided to trial for the Queensland Under 15s team. I was so excited when I made the squad, and even more excited when I was selected in the travelling team. Going to Nationals was such an amazing experience. Our team bonded so well and I loved every minute of competing all weekend.

What happened next was something I never expected. I received an email saying I had been selected to represent Australia. I was completely shocked and so incredibly proud to have the opportunity to wear the green and gold.

Flag Football has become a sport I truly love. One of my favourite parts is when we get to match up against the boys and show them exactly what us girls can do.

Representing Australia is an absolute privilege, and I’m now raising funds to help make this opportunity possible. Any support will go toward travel, accommodation, and the costs involved in competing internationally.

This is only the beginning of my journey, and my dream now is to one day represent Australia in Flag Football at the Olympics.

Thank you so much for supporting me on this incredible journey!
