Five proud Australians will form Team Heskett and represent Australian grassroots curling at the upcoming Five and Under World Curling Championship at the Glenmore Curling Club, Montreal, Canada. To be eligible to play, each team member needs to have 5 years or less competitive curling experience.

With December 2026 being our time to shine, the next months will be full of planning, training, practice and travel.

Meet Matthew

I've been curling competitively since competing at the Australian National Curling Championships in 2022. Over this time, I've met a broad range of fantastic people, and many people I'm proud to call friends. Through my short time, I've achieved at the Australian National Championships:

• Men's Fours - 4th (2024) and 5th (2022, 2023, 2025)
• Mixed Doubles - 5th (2024) and 7th (2025)
• Game Umpire - Mixed Fours (2024)
• Spirit of Curling Awardee - Mixed Doubles (2025)

Curling in Australia is a true volunteer and community endeavour. I've previously held the position of Secretary for the Queensland Curling Association (2023-2024) and am currently a Board Director for Curling Australia Ltd - the National Sporting Organisation representing Curling in Australia (2024 to Present).

The Fundraiser

As a self-funded endeavour, we understand there are many costs involved in competing. If you'd like to support me in my journey to wearing Green and Gold, I'd be very grateful for your support.

• A $20 donation helps with a nutritious meal while I'm competing (we're away for 8 nights for training and competition)
• A $30 donation helps to buy a new curling brush pad for competition (we'll use a new brush pad every 1-2 games)
• A $50 donation helps to pay for a playing t-shirt (we're getting one in green and one in gold)
• An $80 donation helps to pay for one night accommodation in Montreal with the team (we're in Montreal for 8 nights)
• A $100 donation helps to pay for a playing jacket (we're getting one gold jacket for this competition)
• A $150 donation helps to contribute towards the team's hire car costs
• A $220 donation helps to pay for my competition entry fee
• A $300 donation helps to contribute towards my travel insurance costs
