Melbourne Collegians has a history that goes back to the first game of water polo in Australia, held at St Kilda Baths in 1894. Since then, the club has provided a vibrant community for many to play water polo across junior and senior competitions.

At the more competitive level, MC has regularly medalled at national level club competitions from juniors to masters, has had high numbers of junior players represent Victoria at national level inter-state competitions, and several players represent Australia, including a number of Olympians.
