My name is Micaela and I am a Grade 10 student with dreams of playing European Handball at the 2032 Olympics in my home town of Brisbane.

I started playing European Handball for Brisbane Handball Club when I was 10 years old as part of their youth development program which is run by volunteers and without government or corporate support to grow the sport and I was hooked. While massive overseas, it is relatively unknown in Australia. Often confused with 4 Square handball. But the 2 are very different!

2025 was a fantastic year for me for handball, I was able to get court time in the women's team in the 2025 Brisbane Cup, scoring my first competition goal. I represented QLD in the U19 Women's team at the Youth nationals on the Gold Coast and I proudly wore the Green & Gold, representing Australia in the U17 Women's team at the IHF Oceania Championships in the Cook Islands.

The players of this sport selflessly fund their own travel, training and game kits, and any other expenses, showcasing their unwavering commitment to this sport and I registering on this platform to source donations as I continue to level up my handball skills in the hope of competing at the 2032 Olympics. With Australia being the HOST nation at the Brisbane 2032 Olympics, it means Australia automatically qualifies for the Olympic Handball Tournament. This presents opportunities for athletes in all age groups to become future Olympians and sponsors to be involved in the local club.

My goal outside normal club activities is to qualify to play in the following:

1. Represent Brisbane Handball Club at the 2026 Brisbane Cup, NZ Club Championships and any other club vs club competitions

2. Represent Queensland at the 2026 Youth Nationals

3. Represent Australia in any upcoming IHF competitions
