ABOUT Michael Moschogianis

Representing Australia at the 2026 ICF Canoe Ocean Racing World Championships

I am proud to share that I have been selected to represent Australia at the ICF Canoe Ocean Racing World Championships in La Vila Joiosa, Spain, from October 9–11, 2026.

I will compete in the Masters Men’s 55–59 SS1 and the Masters SS2 110-119 (with Jamie Stubbs) as part of my first-ever Australian team representation — an achievement that reflects years of dedication to surf sports, ocean racing, and community service.

What I Am Raising Funds For

As a Masters athlete, international representation is entirely self-funded. I am seeking support to help cover the significant costs associated with competing at a world championship level, including:

  • International flights and travel
  • Accommodation
  • Boat hire and transport
  • Competition entry fees
  • Team uniforms and equipment
  • Training and preparation expenses

These costs present a major financial commitment, and your support will play a vital role in helping me achieve this opportunity to represent both Tasmania and Australia on the world stage. As the end of the financial year approaches, every tax-deductible donation is incredibly important and will make a big difference on my journey to Spain.

Why This Matters to Me

This campaign is about far more than competing internationally.

Sport has shaped my life through decades of involvement in surf lifesaving, ocean racing, coaching, and community leadership. I strongly believe in the importance of lifelong participation in sport and the positive impact it has on physical health, mental wellbeing, resilience, and community connection.

Masters athletes often continue competing while balancing careers, volunteering, and family commitments, yet they receive little structured financial support. I want to help demonstrate that sport does not end after junior or senior competition pathways — it can remain a lifelong pursuit that inspires future generations.

Representing Australia at this level is an opportunity to show young athletes, students, and members of our community that dedication, service, and persistence can lead to extraordinary opportunities at any age.

How I Plan to Make It Happen

Over the next several months, I will undertake a dedicated training and preparation program focused on competing at an international level in ocean racing.

This season has been my strongest yet, with career-best performances including:

  • State Masters Life Saving Championships: 8 Gold and 4 Silver medals from 12 events.
  • State Open Life Saving Championships: 1 Gold and 1 Bronze medal.
  • Australian Surf Life Saving Championships: 1 Gold, 1 Bronze, and 2 fifth-place finishes.
  • Australian Ocean Canoe Racing Championships: 4th place nationally.

These results have provided the platform for my Australian team selection and reinforced my belief that I can compete strongly at the World Championships.

Who I Am

I am a career surf lifesaver, surf sports athlete, educator, volunteer, and proud family man.

Professionally, I serve as Director of Sport & Community Liaison at St Virgil’s College, where I work to build strong sporting culture, leadership opportunities, and community engagement for young people.

Within surf lifesaving, I volunteer as a patrolling member and Surf Sports Manager at Carlton Park Surf Life Saving Club, helping support athlete development, participation pathways, and club culture.

Everything I do is driven by a passion for family, sport, community, leadership, and giving back.

Representing Australia at the 2026 ICF Ocean Racing World Championships would be a tremendous honour, and any support towards this journey would be sincerely appreciated.
