    ABOUT Michaela Davis-Meehan

    Kingston, ACT

I am raising funds to represent Australia at the elite level in Freeride. I am currently ranked second in the world and in 2026 I will compete on both the Freeride World Tour and in the Freeride World Championships. The Tour starts in Spain on January 16th, then France, Georgia, Austria, Alaska and finals in Verbier (where I finished 2nd in 2025 – the first Australian to compete there in its 30 year history). The first ever Freeride World Championships are in Andorra in the first week of February. I qualified straight through as a Pro rider because of my 2025 results. Since then, I have been training hard both on my strength program and with my coach on a training camp in South America. I will head back to Europe in December this year. As you can imagine it’s expensive and I don’t qualify for any government funding as it is not yet an Olympic Sport – although I am hoping for announcement about that before next season starts. I am a totally self-funded athlete, and despite my best efforts I have not been able to secure any paying sponsorships. The upside is that I can focus on training and riding, and I work to put my funds together.

Born and bred in Newcastle, keen surfer and living the van life. I want to inspire more people to get into Freeride and getting out there to do what they love. If your organisation needs an injection of adventure … I’m you girl! Snowboarding is my passion and I am determined to continue putting Australia on the map for Freeride snowboarding!
