A strong history of pride, resilience and community is at the heart of who we are. Milawa Football Netball Club was one of the five inaugural members of the Ovens and King Football Association, formed in 1903 at the Bull’s Head Hotel in Wangaratta. Since then, our small but mighty community has celebrated 28 Football Premierships, 30 Netball Premierships and 11 Champion Club titles, achievements built on generations of local families, volunteers, and players who love and support our club.

Today, we continue that tradition of bringing people together. The Milawa Football Netball Club, are raising funds to upgrade the lighting and power at the Milawa Recreation Reserve, the place where our community comes to connect, cheer, play, learn and belong. The project includes new LED light towers and a three-phase power upgrade, both essential for safety, modern training standards and supporting football, netball, bowls, cricket and tennis. Our current lighting is well below required levels, limiting evening use and restricting opportunities for our growing community of players.

We care about this project because the Reserve is more than a sporting space, it’s where friendships form, kids find confidence, families gather, and community spirit comes to life. Better lighting will support junior development, open up more training opportunities, ease pressure on volunteers, and create a safer, more inclusive environment for everyone who uses the Reserve.

With support from a State Government grant and the generosity of our community, we plan to deliver this upgrade together. Every contribution, big or small, helps create a brighter future for Milawa, one that will benefit current players and generations still to come.
