Community and Structure
The Mypolonga Combined Sports’ Club is a community‑driven organisation that brings together the region’s key sporting codes: football, netball, cricket, and tennis . It operates out of shared facilities including clubrooms and the Mypolonga Memorial Oval, and hosts weekly social gatherings—especially on Friday nights—with teas on the first Friday of each month
Clubs and Sports
- Football (AFL):
- Known as the Mypolonga Football Club (Tigers), it was established in 1928. The club competes in the River Murray Football League, fielding teams across age groups including Auskick through to seniors Mypolonga has won the RMFL Senior Premiership eight times, most recently in 2019 (and also in 2017, 1994, 1991, 1990, 1989, 1939, and 1938)
- Netball:
- The Mypolonga Netball League Club participates in the River Murray Netball Association, and fields multiple senior, junior, and mini teams SAcommunity.
- Cricket:
- The Mypolonga Cricket Club competes in the Murray Towns Cricket Association, offering teams from Under‑13s to several senior grades, along with quality practice nets and equipment
- Tennis:
- The Mypolonga Tennis Club is integrated into the Combined Sports’ Club, featuring four lit hard courts and clubhouse facilities play.tennis.com.autennisvenues.com.au.
Facility Development & Upgrades
Significant recent investments have transformed the club’s facilities:
- In early 2024, the club received $500,000 in funding from the Office for Recreation and Sport to build new changerooms and a canteen
- In mid‑2024, a broader $1.24 million upgrade was announced—supported by state grants, council funding, and community fundraising—to include changerooms, new lighting, a netball court expansion, a recreation area, and playground
- These enhancements are designed to support growing participation and inclusivity, especially for women and girls, and act as a legacy for future generations
Community Role
Beyond sport, the club serves as a social and cultural hub, hosting gatherings and connecting families across the region. Events like school‑led activities and regional recognition (e.g., Ag Town of the Year lunches) often take place at the club facilities
