ABOUT Myrtleford Bowls Club Inc
We are about $350k short of fully funding phase two of our project which is to install a architectually designed colorbond roof over a green we are currently converting from natural grass to a synthetic woven carpet bowling surface. The conversion is fully funded thanks to the Victorian State Government contributing $350k, benefactors are providing $528k and THE CLUB has also committed $100k to this $1.3million project. Being a central hub to various activities for the community of Myrtleford already, the roof will provide both health benefits by giving all users protection from UV Rays thus reducing the chances of skin cancer, and environmental benefits such as allowing us to install many solar panels on the colorbond roof assisted by battery storage. The wider community will have access to this world class facility in all types of weather protected from the elements meaning participation will grow along with more diversified use.
The Club will provide a fully funded asset in Myrtleford and the only one of its type in north east Victoria and the Alpine Region. The current Board of Directors recognise the far reaching impact and benefits once fully funded this project will have across the wider region. The bowls club will also have a debt free asset to be very proud of and guarentee its financial future for many years to come. We do not have poker machines and have no desire to do so, but our region has had a very rough time through the loss of the tobacco industry, Covid 19 , bushfires, flooding, tourists having been turned away several times and the shooting death of two well known policeman. Once complete this project will give the community a great lift as a resilient and cohesive place to visit and live. While we are seeking your financial support through the ASF we continue to liaise with the Victorian State Government, Federal Government and Alpine Shire Council to make this project a reality. As a club of 77 members in a small but generous town we thank you in advance for your donations. Regards, Lance Symons. MBC.
