    ABOUT Nicholas Dixon-Grover

    Douglas, QLD

Hi, I’m Nic, but most people know me as Nic DG. I’m 16 years old and based in Townsville, North Queensland. This year, I’ve been given an incredible opportunity: I’ve been selected to race in Europe as a Junior U19 cyclist from July to August 2026, as part of a Perth Based Racing Team, Cycling Development Foundation (CDF).

Cycling has become more than a sport for me — it’s the thing that gets me out of bed at 4am, the thing I build my days around, and the thing I’m chasing with everything I’ve got.

I train 14–18 hours a week here in Townsville under the guidance of my coach in Perth, and I balance that with being in Year 11 and working two jobs — one at Lamberts Fresh Produce in the fruit department, and another at Cycle De Vie in customer service. It’s a full schedule, but it’s also a privilege to work hard for something I love.

Over the years, I’ve represented Queensland in several endurance sports, but road cycling is where I found my true passion. Recently, I raced as one of the youngest riders in the Australian Men’s Elite Series — the Pro Velo Super League — competing across SA, TAS, NSW, and QLD. That experience showed me what’s possible if I keep pushing.

    My Goals

    Short term:

Race in Europe this year, return again in 2027, continue balancing school, family, training, racing, and work, and save for a time‑trial bike to compete at the Australian Nationals in January 2027.

    Long term:

Race in the World Tour as a U23 athlete while studying to become a sports psychologist — combining my love for performance with helping others reach their potential.

I know this path takes commitment, sacrifice, and a lot of support. I’m incredibly grateful for everything my family, school, workplaces, and my team at CDF have already done for me. Any additional support will help cover essential costs like travel, accommodation, nutrition, equipment, and eventually a time‑trial bike.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for considering supporting my journey. Every bit of help brings me one step closer to chasing this dream.
