ABOUT NSTRMO
The word Nostromo (NSTRMO), meaning shipmate or boatswain, carries a strong sense of camaraderie, leadership, and responsibility qualities that resonate deeply with a cycling team. Just as a boatswain oversees the deck crew, ensuring coordination and efficiency aboard a ship, a cycling team relies on experienced riders to guide, support and push their teammates toward shared goals.
One year on from launch, our elite women's team, NSTRMO x Attaquer x CCACHE, has moved from strength to strength. Achieving results on the national circuit including multiple podium positions in Provelo Super League rounds in its breakout year, our team now looks further. Our goal is to support all of our riders to achieve their potential, from racing at the National and Oceania level through to contending for 2028 and 2032 Olympic selection. We hope to provide the path to the professional ranks, and success at the national and world championship and Olympic/Paralympic levels.
Our women's team is focusing on providing a space for growth, development and success for women, historically underrepresented in a male-dominated sport. We have a strong commitment to be a team for social change while achieving success at the top level.
We plan to spend funds received on the delivery of our women's program in the 2026/27 ProVelo series, the nation's elite road cycling competition: https://provelosuperleague.com/ and supporting races at state level. Any grant funds received would be applied towards accommodation, equipment, airfares and entry fees from December 2026 to April 2027. Once our ProVelo funding target is achieved, we would direct surplus towards developing and establishing a team for UCI-sanctioned races abroad
