Hi, I’m Oscar Cowan. I’m 15 years old and I live in Canberra, ACT. I’ve been selected to represent Australia at the Junior World Water Ski Championships in Argentina in March 2026, and I’m fundraising to help make this dream come true. 🇦🇺💦

Water skiing has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I started skiing when I was a 3 years old on Blowering Dam, near Tumut, where my dad grew up and where my Nan still lives. Our family spends a lot of weekends there visiting my Nan and skiing together. It’s a very special place for me and where my love for the sport began.

In 2019, I joined the ACT Water Ski Club in Canberra and started competing in tournament water skiing. I ski in all three events — slalom, trick, and jump — but my favourite is trick. Earlier this year, in March 2025, I came first in Trick (U14 Boys) at the Oceania Aussie Kiwi Challenge, which was such an exciting moment for me and helped me earn selection to the Australian Junior World Team.

This past winter, I continued to train at Blowering Dam even when it was freezing. Some days the air temperature only reached 13 degrees, but I stayed focused because I really wanted to keep improving and be ready for this amazing opportunity.

Representing Australia overseas is such a huge honour. All money raised will go directly towards expenses for my trip to Argentina and preparation for the Junior World Championships, including:

🏨 Accommodation and meals while competing overseas

🎽 Team uniform and equipment

🎟️ Competition entry fees and training expenses

🏋️ Ongoing coaching and local training costs before departure

Any extra funds raised will help me continue training and competing in future national and international tournaments as I keep working towards my long-term water skiing goals.
