ABOUT Pacific Youth Rugby Festival
About us
The Pacific Youth Rugby Festival is an annual XV Rugby Union event run by women for male and female players aged 10–18, and over 18 in the Senior festival. Held over three action-packed days in Southeast Queensland during October, it brings together teams from across Australia and beyond, creating a vibrant and competitive atmosphere that celebrates the spirit of rugby.
More than just a tournament, the festival is a celebration of culture, community, sportsmanship, international friendship, and inclusion. Players experience high-level competition, skill development workshops, and cultural exchanges, making it a truly unique rugby event.
We are deeply committed to inclusivity—especially in creating opportunities for female players and officials. From on-field participation to, governance, leadership roles, refereeing and coaching, we strive to foster diversity and equality across all aspects of the game. This festival is run and managed by women known as the Pink ladies.
Since its inception, the festival has seen remarkable growth—from 450 players in 2021, to 1,650 players and the establishment of a senior Pacific festival in 2024.
With 2025 set to be our biggest and most inclusive year yet, we continue to build a festival where young athletes can compete, grow, and celebrate their heritage through rugby.
Our Vision
As a female-led organisation, the Pacific Youth Rugby Festival is dedicated to embracing a diverse range of cultures and nations while creating unmatched opportunities for female players and aspiring leaders in rugby union.
We aim to foster an inclusive environment where every player, regardless of background, can thrive and excel in the sport. Our commitment extends beyond the players—we actively support the development of female referees, coaches, and administrators, ensuring that women play a leading role in shaping the future of rugby.
At PYRF, we believe in the power of sport to unite communities and break down barriers. Our vision is to create a festival that not only celebrates rugby but also serves as a platform for empowerment, diversity, and leadership. By inspiring the next generation of female athletes and leaders, we are building a legacy of inclusivity and excellence in rugby union.
