ABOUT Payton Massey
I would like to introduce you to Payton Massey, a dedicated young athlete who has been training in the martial art of Taekwondo for almost three years with Hoju Martial Arts in Tasmania.
Payton is 11 years old and currently a Red Belt, working diligently toward achieving her Black Belt. Through consistent training, discipline, and commitment, she has developed a strong passion for the sport and continues to set ambitious goals for her future in Taekwondo.
Payton trains five days a week at Hoju Martial Arts under the guidance of her coach, Master Josh Warren, a highly respected instructor who has represented Australia internationally. In addition, she completes daily training sessions at home to further develop her technique, fitness, and competition readiness. Her level of dedication and work ethic exceeds what is typical for athletes of her age.
To reach her goal, Payton must continue building competition experience. Unfortunately, Taekwondo competitions are not currently held in Tasmania, which means interstate travel is essential for her to compete at a national level.
So far in 2026, Payton has already achieved outstanding success at her first major competition of the year, the South Coast Open, where she won Gold in the Cadet 12–14 Year Old Red Belt 41-44kg division, along with an additional two Gold medals, one Silver, and one Bronze medal across multiple events.
In addition to competitions, Payton must attend interstate training camps with mainland clubs to further develop her skills, gain exposure, and meet the criteria required for higher-level selection.
Why Support Payton
By supporting Payton, you are investing in a hardworking young Tasmanian athlete who demonstrates exceptional discipline, commitment, and sportsmanship. Your support will help remove the financial barriers associated with interstate travel, accommodation, competition entry fees, uniforms and mandatory protective gear - allowing her to focus fully on her development and performance.
We are seeking donations to assist with the significant costs involved in pursuing these opportunities. Any contribution, large or small, would make a meaningful difference and play a direct role in helping Payton continue her journey toward national representation.
