PingPongParkinson was established in New York in 2017 by musician, peace activist and civil engineer Nenad Bach, diagnosed with Parkinson at the age of 55. Nenad's 50 year musical career includes performances at Woodstock and with Pavarotti, Bono and the Edge, 7 original albums, movie soundtracks, and more. Nenad took up table tennis by coincidence at a time when Parkinson symptoms were diminishing his ability to perform publicly on the guitar. After playing 2 - 3 times per week for a few months, Nenad's skills on the guitar were restored. His neurologist confirmed the reversal of many symptoms and Nenad set out to share with as many people as possible the benefits of table tennis for Parkinson. PingPongParkinson (PPP) Australia Inc. guides the development of PPP groups (which we call chapters) throughout Australia, raises awareness of the benefits of table tennis, advocates for inclusion of people with Parkinson in Parasports and engages with the scientific and medical community. Fundraising will assist PPP Australia to: offer necessary table tennis equipment to new and growing PPP chapters, provide training and support to table tennis coaches and chapter coordinators, meet the costs of engaging in clinical research partnerships, develop PingPongParkinson Mobile to improve access to PPP sessions for those with travel challenges due to remote or residential settings, and assist players with Parkinson to compete in tournaments.
