Hi, my name is Poppy, and I’m from Townsville, North Queensland. I’ve been selected to join the first-ever Australian U18 Girls Rugby 7s team travelling to the USA in March 2026 to compete in the Tropical 7s Tournament in Florida — the largest youth rugby sevens competition in the United States.

This will be my first international rugby tour, and I’m so excited to represent my team, my community, and Australia on the world stage. I only started playing rugby this year after being inspired by my dad, who’s a proud Kiwi and lifelong rugby fan. In my first season, I was selected for the Townsville Brolgas representative team and received “Best Back” for my club. Rugby has quickly become one of my biggest passions — I love the friendships, teamwork, and challenge the game brings.

The Shockwave Rugby Academy USA Tour is an amazing opportunity to develop my skills, experience rugby at an elite level, and create unforgettable memories with my teammates. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience for a regional player like me, and I would be so grateful for your support in helping make it happen.

Tour Itinerary Highlights

• March 27–28: Travel from Townsville to Brisbane, then to Tampa, Florida
• March 30–31: Team training, recovery and sightseeing at Busch Gardens and Clearwater Beach
• April 1: Warm-up match vs Tropical 7s Academy
• April 2: US Rugby & College Talent Combine
• April 3–4: Tropical 7s Tournament – pool and finals matches
• April 7: Final tour match vs State Representative Team in Los Angeles
• April 8: Team day at Disneyland before returning home

Funds raised will go directly towards flights, accommodation, tournament fees, and uniforms. I’m working hard with my family and team to raise the money needed, and I’d be so thankful for any support you can give through the Australian Sports Foundation — every donation, big or small, brings me one step closer to my dream.
