ABOUT Reid Martin Sailing
At just 12 years old, Reid has been offered a place on the Australian Optimist Team for the 3rd consecutive year.
The Australian Optimist Sailing Team (AOST) will be attending the IODA Asian & Oceania Championship in Colombo, Sri Lanka 12th-19st December 2026.
Reid has had an incredibly successful sailing career to date, with the stats of a determined Olympic Champion in the making behind him. He has travelled all over Australia to States and National events since he was 7, with podium results at nearly every event. Reid is committed to keep it up and go hard again this year.
This year, Reid has an extensive training and regatta program with the NSW States first up in March for which he will travel alone. Followed by Sail Airlie here at home, then the AOST training camp down in Melbourne.
Reid will also attend the below events again this year at a minimum:
NSW States
Qld Youth Week
NSW Youth Week
Sail Brisbane
QLD States
Australian Championships Melbourne
We also hope to see Reid travel to Brisbane and Sydney for a several training sessions and camps in 2026. Reid is determined to make a mark again this year, maybe a bit of a bigger mark!
Reid is now sailing for 2 clubs, and enjoying being able to represent the full region… which will be holding the 2032 Olympic Games. He really hopes to get some experience in different boats this year and encourage more of his mates from school to take up the sport and sail with him.
We are asking for financial support in allowing this young man to continue to chase his dreams. He is all things champion and is not going anywhere other than all the way.
Any little contribution goes a long way towards equipping Reid with the necessary coaching, travel costs, regatta entry fees, equipment and sailing gear!
