Founded in 1968 during Whyalla’s boom years, Roopena Football & Sporting Club has grown from three junior football teams into one of Regional South Australia’s most respected multi‑sport community clubs. Built on Double Blue pride and the iconic “Penny Roo,” Roopena entered senior football in 1970 and established its long‑standing clubrooms in 1971, expanding over decades into the vibrant facility it is today.

Now home to football, cricket, netball, basketball, darts and 8‑ball, Roopena supports sport at all levels while providing a welcoming, family‑friendly environment. With a busy kitchen, full‑service bar operating seven days a week, and versatile clubrooms used for meetings, functions and community events, Roopena remains a central hub for Whyalla.
