Our Story

Salty Beaches Roller Derby (SBRD) believes that roller derby should be for EVERY body — no matter your background, ability, identity, or experience.

We're raising funds to help us do just that: build a truly inclusive, empowering, and accessible space where people can discover the joy of roller derby.

WHY WE CARE

Roller derby is more than just a sport — it’s a community, a support system, and a space where people often find belonging for the first time.

For many of our members, especially those from marginalised communities, SBRD has become a place to grow confidence, strength, and connection both on and off skates.

But we know that financial barriers, lack of access, or feeling unsafe can keep people from even getting to the door. That’s why we’re committed to changing that.

WHAT WE'RE DOING

Your donations will directly help us:

• Subsidise gear and membership costs for those who need it
• Keep training affordable and inclusive for all skill levels
• Host safe, fun, community-building events
• Offer outreach programs that introduce roller derby to new folks in our local area
• Create a safer, more supportive sporting environment for people who don’t always feel welcome in traditional sports

As a not-for-profit organisation, every dollar goes back into our club — to support our members, grow the sport locally, and make roller derby accessible to everyone who wants to be part of it.
