Hi, I’m Sam Cartledge, and I’m honoured to have been selected to represent Australia at the 2025 Deaflympics in Tokyo with the Australian Goannas Men’s Deaf Basketball Team.

This will be the eighth time I’ve had the privilege of pulling on the green and gold to represent both my country and the Deaf community. Each time feels just as special as the first — it’s about competing at the highest level, breaking barriers, and showing the world what Deaf athletes are capable of.

Competing on the international stage is an incredible honour, but it also comes at a cost. Like many Deaf athletes, this journey is largely self-funded. I’m responsible for covering training camps, travel, accommodation, and uniforms — expenses that add up quickly. Every donation, no matter the size, directly helps me get to Tokyo and give my absolute best for Australia.

I know I’ve asked for support before, and I can’t thank you enough for the encouragement and generosity I’ve received over the years. Your belief in me has made every step of this journey possible — and with your help, I’ll proudly represent our community once again on the world stage.
