    ABOUT Samantha Blewitt

    Frenchs Forest, NSW

I have been given the incredible opportunity to represent Australia at the Junior World Taekwondo Championships in Uzbekistan this April.

Wearing the green and gold has been my dream since I first stepped onto the mats at just 4 years old. Back then it felt like something magical and far away — and now, after years of training, early mornings, sore muscles, sacrifices, and never giving up, that dream has become real.

But there is one big challenge.

Even though it is such an honour to represent Australia, there is very limited funding available. This means my family and I must cover the full cost of competing internationally ourselves.

To stand on the world stage, I need to fund:

    • International flights and accommodation

    • Team levies and competition fees

    • European training camps and competitions

    • Coaching and high-performance preparation

Before the World Championships, our team will travel to Europe to compete in the Dutch and Belgium Opens and train alongside international athletes — experiences we simply don’t have access to here in Australia. These opportunities are essential to help me grow, learn, and compete at my very best.

Right now, I am balancing school, two part-time jobs, and daily high-performance training. I am doing everything I can to contribute because this means everything to me — and my parents are supporting me every step of the way.

Last year, my older sister Gaby won a bronze medal at the Senior World Championships. Watching her stand on that podium, wearing Australia’s colours, made me believe that maybe one day I could be there too. Now, I have the chance to follow in her footsteps — and it feels both exciting and overwhelming.

This journey is about more than one competition.

It’s about chasing a dream I’ve had since I was little.

It’s about representing Australia with pride.

It’s about showing young girls that with hard work, courage, and resilience, anything is possible.

If you are able to support me — no matter how big or small — you are not just helping fund a trip. You are helping a young athlete step onto the world stage and live her dream.

Every donation, share, and message of encouragement truly means the world to me and my family.

Thank you for being part of my journey.
