Currently the floodlights at the Sandringham Athletic Club cover less than 50% of the track, leaving large parts of the track in the dark. This is a significant safety risk which also reduces usable training space, and increases the injury risk for athletes. We have already invested in having the engineering plans drawn up. The plans detail 6 smaller light towers, using LED lights. The LED lights would be a great environmental upgrade for the venue, which is currently using halogen lights.

The lighting upgrade will create a safer training environment for junior and senior athletes, as well as members of the public. It will also increase the amount of training space people can access on weeknights. As well as fundraising, we are also lobbying our local council and state government.
