ABOUT Saskia Brown
About me
In February 2024, my life changed overnight. I lost sensation on the right side of my body, spent weeks in ICU and hospital, and underwent life-saving brain surgery. Months of tests and rehab followed, and in December 2024 —just days before my 28th birthday—I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.
Whilst my body throws a host of different challenges at me each day, my horses and I have learnt to adapt to these changes and my new way of riding.
With this diagnosis - I turned my sights to the 2028 LA Paralympic Games and had my Para-Dressage Classification in June 2025, where I was classified as Grade 4.
I am looking to gain experience and Qualification Scores at CPEDI3* (Paralympic Level) in Australia with the aim of also campaigning in Europe closer to the LA Paralympic Games in 2028.
International Level Exposure & National Championships
This year's Para Dressage Nationals is being held in Boneo Park, Victoria on the 13th - 16th November, as a CPEDI (International level event), and now I have completed the CPEDI2* for qualification purposes, I am looking at taking both horses (Bones & Pip) in the CPEDI3* event which is the Paralympic Games Level Tests and also a qualification event for WEG 2026. By attending, we will gain valuable experience competing in this high pressure environment, better preparing us for the World Equestrian Games and Paralympic Games qualification events throughout 2026-2028.
High Performance Squad
Para athletes also have the opportunity to obtain scores to go towards being named on the EA Para High Performance Squad. As this is my first CPEDI3*, this is my first opportunity to be able to achieve these scores and by being named, I will hopefully be able to gain more support from the National Federation for my competitive Para Dressage career.
Competition Costs
FEI/International have higher costs to run and therefore athletes incur higher costs to enter the event. As this is an FEI sanctioned event, and interstate for myself, the horses are required to stay at the venue.
I have listed below the expected cost for me to be there (minus all daily costs e.g. food, horse feed):
Itemised costs:
- Entries = $719
- Stabling = $780
- Tack room = $300
- Accommodation = $1600
- Fuel = $1393 (based on 70c per km - 1990kms total from Dural to Boneo Park and back)
- TOTAL = $4792
THANK YOU for your support, I appreciate any donation that can help me attend the Boneo Park CPEDI and be one step closer to making an Australian team and looking to represent my country.
If any donations are received over and above the current goal, these will be used for the CPEDI Events in 2026.
