I'm Shaenyce and I am a 14 year old karate athlete who has been training since I was three years old. This year has been the biggest of my karate journey so far. Competing in my first year as a Cadet (14–15 years), I was fortunate to win gold at the Victorian State Championships, Australian Open Championships, New Zealand Open Championships and the Australian National Championships. These results earned me the incredible honour of being selected to represent Australia at the WKF Cadet/Junior/U21 World Championships in Bielsko-Biała, Poland, this October. Representing Australia has been a dream of mine for many years, and I am so excited for this opportunity.

Karate is a self-funded sport, so my family covers the costs of travel, accommodation, competition fees, training and equipment. Like many athletes in self-funded sports, I rely on fundraising and the generosity of others to help make this incredible opportunity possible.
