ABOUT Shelby Patten
My name is Shelby Patten. I’m 15 years old and a First Nations netball player from Queensland. I’ve been selected to represent the Australian Budgies Indigenous Netball Team at the international carnival in Christchurch, New Zealand from 26 September to 4 October 2025.
This is a major opportunity for me to represent my culture and community on the international stage. I currently play in the Suncoast Premier League as part of the First Nations Academy of Excellence, where I also serve as an ambassador — helping promote cultural pride and connection through sport.
To attend the Christchurch carnival, I need to raise approximately $4,000 to cover travel, accommodation, uniforms, and team expenses. My family has been incredibly supportive, but like many others, we’ve faced financial challenges since the COVID-19 pandemic. This fundraiser will help me take part in a life-changing opportunity that I’ve worked hard to achieve.
Your support will help me compete internationally, grow as an athlete, and inspire other young Indigenous players to pursue their goals. Thank you for helping me get there.
