ABOUT Sheryl Simpson
A Milestone Year: Two World Cups, One Goal
I am incredibly proud to announce that 2026 will mark a significant career milestone in my journey as an athlete. After a strong performance at the Australian Masters Championships in Goulburn and over 15 years of national representation, I have been selected to represent Australia in two separate World Cup squads in the same year.
- Indoor World Cup: I have been selected for the Australian Masters Women’s 50s Indoor Team, competing at the World Masters Hockey Indoor World Cup in Nottingham, England (March 2026). This is a particularly special achievement, as it marks my debut representing Australia in indoor hockey.
- Outdoor World Cup: I have also been selected for the Australian Masters Women’s 55s Outdoor Team, competing at the World Masters Hockey Outdoor World Cup in Belgium (August 2026).
Being selected for both an indoor and outdoor World Cup team in the same calendar year is an incredible honour. It reflects not just performance, but years of resilience, commitment, and physical dedication to the sport I love.
Why I Need Your Support While wearing the green and gold is a privilege, Masters Hockey is a fully self-funded sport. To represent Australia on the world stage, athletes must personally cover all associated costs.
Your tax-deductible donation will directly assist me with:
- International travel and flights to England and Belgium.
- Accommodation during training camps and the tournaments.
- Australian team uniforms and equipment.
- Tournament registration fees and levies.
- Preparation and training expenses.
More Than Just a Game Beyond the competition, I am passionate about promoting lifelong participation in sport. As a long-term Australian Masters representative, I strive to lead by example, demonstrating the importance of resilience and staying active at all ages.
My goal is to use this platform to inspire others—particularly women—to pursue high-performance opportunities and realize that competitive sport doesn't have to end as we get older.
Any support you can provide, big or small, will make a meaningful difference in alleviating the financial pressure of these campaigns. Thank you for supporting Australian sport, and for helping me represent our country on the world stage in 2026.
