ABOUT Simon Bibby
I am seeking assistance with a trip to the 2026 World Sailing Inclusion Championships(WSIC) being held in Portugal early October this year.
Having been an avid sailor prior to injury, windsurfing, dinghy and keelboat racing I became involved with Sailability. Almost immediately I became a volunteer and began competing with results in the Hansa 303 class of Para Sailing.
Achieving 1st place at the 2025 Hansa Victorian state titles, 2nd place in the 2025 Para Nationals, 21st place at the 2025 Hansa Worlds.
3rd place 2026 Hansa State titles.
After a rigorous 12 months trialing and developing a new class of sailing, Para-Wing foiling with the support from Australian and World Sailing has become an option. I became the first Australian Para-WingFoiler with the help from Australian Sailing in Townsville at one of the Foiling camps recently.

Why support me?
I am passionate about sailing as an option for similarly impaired people. Sailing has saved me from the rigors recovering from a spinal cord injury(SCI).Mental health has and is a big problem for recovering SCI people. Aside from the physical changes to ones body, the mental "demons" that can manifest in ones head are extremely difficult to come to terms with. There is only 2 ways forward, either stagnate and get deeper and deeper mental health problems or get out in the community that saved me! Sailing has saved my life!
I have found the best medicine for me suffering extreme chronic pain associated with SCI is Sailing and being a part of the Para community.
I need assistance with flights and accommodation, entry and general living expenses whilst representing Australia in Portamao, Portugal. Getting equipment and myself there hopefully with a support worker to assist with logistics and personal care is necessary for someone wheelchair bound. Especially when its a 36 hr journey.
Australian and World sailing are working hard to get Para Sailing reinstated for Brisbane 2032. I am part of this drive exploring new and exciting forms of sailing. Aiming to boost popularity and numbers for all forms of Para Sailing across the board!
All donations are tax deductible and any help is greatly appreciated. Bring on Brisbane 2032!
