In her words

Hi my name is Taina and I've been playing baseball for 4 years. I'm one of the only three girls out of all the Junior league teams this year in Cairns and the whole time I've played baseball there has only been a few girls playing in Cairns and surrounding areas. I like to play 2nd base, 1st base and pitcher as well as any positions in the outfield. My most favourite thing about baseball is the game itself how you have to anticipate where the ball will be hit, how you have to know what do do and how to back up your team mates.

Taina loves playing baseball. Like many young talented athletes in the Far North, despite her passion for the game and support of her family, there are significant financial barriers in being able to participate in sport especially higher level competitions and access further development opportunities by participating in baseball tournaments is often beyond the financial means of her family and located outside of the region.

Taina had an overwhelming response to the Cairns to Adelaide fundraising campaign we have received some enquiries about continuing to support Taina in baseball. If you would like to support Taina's baseball journey funds raised through this donation page will be used towards fees, flights, ground transport and accommodation for Taina for the upcoming inaugral U17 Rising Stars Girls Tournament in Sydney in January 2026 and costs if she is selected as a friendship player for the Qld Youth Women and Girls Baseball State Titles in South East Qld in December 2025.
