🖤 Help Tamara Get Back in the Saddle
If you know me, you know I’m not very good at asking for help.
I’m usually the one supporting others — mentoring young artists at Lady Ink Tattoos, sponsoring local riders, backing my community, and juggling a studio, my team of horses, and a small farm.
But right now, I’m the one who needs support. I am currently rehabbing unexpected ankle surgery, and am scheduled for hip surgery in June.
After years of pushing through pain, I’m facing major hip surgery due to advanced osteoarthritis arthritis at just 39 years old. As a self-employed tattoo artist and competitive event rider, this isn’t just a medical procedure — it’s time away from my livelihood, my clients, my horses, and the life I’ve built.
This surgery will allow me to:
• Work without chronic pain
• Ride and compete again safely
• Maintain my independence long-term
• Prevent further joint damage
However, the financial reality is significant - I have been insured my whole life, but this surgery is the next tier in cover, and sadly I am not covered.
Because I’m self-employed:
• I don’t have paid leave
• I won’t earn during recovery
• I’ll have surgical gap fees, anaesthetist costs, rehab, and ongoing medical expenses
• I still have studio overheads, animals to feed, and commitments to meet
I am asking for support to help cover:
• Out-of-pocket surgical costs
• Recovery and rehabilitation
• Basic living expenses during time off work
I understand times are tough for everyone, and there is absolutely no pressure. Even sharing this page helps more than you know.
If you’ve ever sat in my chair, ridden beside me, trained with me, supported Lady Ink, or simply believe in community backing community — I would be incredibly grateful for your support.
This isn’t about charity.
It’s about getting back on my feet — and back in the saddle — stronger than ever.
With gratitude,
Tamara 🖤
