The 2025 Junior International Cup is set to take place in Los Angeles from June 18 to 22, bringing together elite youth flag football teams from around the world. Organized by USA Football, this prestigious tournament features Under 15 and Under 17 boys' and girls' divisions, with countries like the United States, Canada, Mexico, Japan, Panama, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea taking part. Mieke has been selected to represent Australia as an emerging Olympic athlete. This event is a vital platform for young athletes to showcase their skills in Olympic-style 5-on-5 flag football, with the sport making its Olympic debut at the 2028 Los Angeles Games. 

For Australian players like Mieke, participating in such a major event is a huge honor and a massive step towards achieving her goal of being an Olympian — but it also comes with significant costs. Each athlete is responsible for covering their travel expenses, accommodation, team fees, uniforms, and equipment, which can add up to several thousand dollars.
