Townsville Radio Controlled Yachting has a proud history, with more than twenty years of sailing radio-controlled yachts in Townsville. The sport is rapidly growing around the globe, offering competitive sailing experiences that cater to individuals of all ages, abilities and financial means.

Club Facilities and Future Development

The club has successfully secured a council lease on the picturesque bank of Curralea Lake in Townsville. This location offers an excellent opportunity to establish a world-class venue dedicated to the sport of radio sailing. Currently, development plans are well underway for the construction of a clubhouse, which will be the first facility of its kind in North Queensland. The new clubhouse is designed to accommodate important amenities, including toilet facilities, ample storage, and a central hub where members can gather for various club activities.

Once completed, this facility will not only support regular club racing but will also serve as an ideal location for hosting regional, state, and national level events. By providing these essential amenities, the clubhouse will enhance the experience for all members and visitors, supporting the ongoing growth and inclusivity of the sport.

Fundraising Campaign

To bring this project to life, the club has launched a fundraising campaign with the goal of raising $200,000. Importantly, the inclusion of accessible toilet facilities will open up participation to those with restricted mobility, ensuring that the club remains welcoming and inclusive for everyone interested in radio sailing.
