    ABOUT Trish Medwin

Hi, I’m Trish — a proud Western Australian footballer, community leader, and fierce believer in the power of sport to change lives.

In September/October 2025, I’ve been selected to represent WA at the AFL Masters National Carnival in Darwin — and I’d love your help to get there.

    My Journey Through Footy

My love for footy started like many Aussie kids — chasing a ball around an oval, usually with no boundary lines and a lot of imagination. But as a woman in sport, the path wasn’t always laid out in front of me. So I helped build it.

I play for West Perth Football Club, where I’ve had the privilege of being part of a growing, passionate women’s program. Being involved with the Falcons has been one of the great joys of my footy career — from hard-fought games to building pathways for the next generation of female athletes.

But beyond WA, my footy story took an even bigger turn…

I had the absolute honor of being selected to represent Australia. Having being named All Australian & National Best & Fairest in 2022.

Wearing the green and gold and leading an incredible group of women onto the field is something I’ll never forget. It was more than a personal milestone — it was a moment that validated everything we fight for in this sport: recognition, respect, and the right to compete at the highest level, regardless of age or gender.

Today, I’m proud to not only still be playing — I’m also:

    • Director of Women’s Football at West Perth Football Club
    • Director of Women’s Football for AFL Masters WA
    • A player and leader in the WA AFL Masters women’s side
    • A passionate advocate for growing female participation in football at all ages and stages

My journey has been filled with wins that go far beyond the scoreboard. I've mentored young athletes, fought for inclusion, and worked hard to create lasting pathways for women in footy — especially those who may have thought their playing days were behind them.

    The Opportunity Ahead

This year’s AFL Masters National Carnival in Darwin is more than just a footy tournament — it’s a celebration of resilience, teamwork, and lifelong sporting spirit. It brings together athletes from all over the country, representing their states with pride, grit, and a good dose of banter. And it’s not just about the games — it’s about what we represent: opportunity, longevity, and the community that comes from sport.

But making it to Nationals isn’t cheap. Travel, accommodation, uniforms, levies, insurance — it all adds up.

That’s why I’m reaching out for support. Every dollar raised through this Australian Sports Foundation page will directly help cover the costs of this trip, allowing me to proudly represent WA and continue flying the flag for women in Masters footy.

    Why It Matters

This isn’t just about me getting to Darwin. It’s about showing that women’s sport — at any age — is worth backing. That passion doesn’t have an expiry date. That when women lead, play, and compete, whole communities get stronger.

If you’ve ever been inspired by the power of sport, seen someone push past their limits, or just love a good story about grit and glory — I’d be honoured to have your support.

Let’s kick some goals — on and off the field.

Thank you from the bottom of my boots,

    Trish
