ABOUT Tyler Gridley
My name is Tyler Gridley and I was born in Alice Springs, in 2022 my family and I relocated to Adelaide to better support my middle-distance athletic development. This move has increased my exposure to national level competition, my progression has been rapid, and I continue to close the gap on Australia’s top senior athletes.
As a junior athlete I have won 22 State Championships and set 6 State State records across the 800m, 1500m and 3000m. In the 800m I am currently ranked 2nd in the Under 20 age group in Australia, and during this season ran a career best pb of 1:48.19.
At 18 years of age, I have been selected to represent Australia in the Open men’s 800m team at the Oceania Area Championships, which will take place from May 18th – 22nd, 2026 in Darwin. This selection not only reflects my current performance level, but also the confidence selectors have in my potential.
Representing my country is a huge honour, this team selection and much of athletics is fully self funded with athletes required to contribute significantly to their own costs. The event in Darwin is solely funded by athletes and their families. Your support will directly contribute to training, travel, accommodation and uniform costs as I peruse national representation.
Beyond Oceania, I will continue to train and build towards next season. I hope to continue my improvement into the domestic season at events such as SA State Championships, Athletics Australia Summer Series and the Australian Championships. Internationally I hope to gain selection in events such as the Pacific Games, World University Games and similar events as they are announced.
