ABOUT Vaucluse Amateur 12 Foot Sailing Club INC
Established in December 1926 VA12SC has a proud history of fostering a community based intergenerational love of sailing, producing world champions along the way. Our mission is to be Australia’s best youth sailing club, delivering first class sailing experiences through a welcoming family environment. We are very proud of our heritage and our unique club ethos; grounded, inclusive and community spirited. Run by members, for members, we value our community and the can do attitude of our many volunteers.
Official sailing season runs from October to April with fleet racing every Sunday. We encourage our sailors to attend regattas with our children competing at State and National level. The sailing school follows the Australian Sailing pathways and offers programs for schools as well as our Term 1 and 4 Saturday and Sunday programs. We also offer school holiday camps in October, December and April holidays. Our junior sailors are encouraged to remain engaged in our sailing program through volunteering and obtaining AS sailing coach qualifications.
Club members who actively participate in club life, and are involved in management have access to use of the club at other times. We encourage and foster active social engagement through fun days, regular barbeque lunches and annual fundraising events. As we approach our centenary year there will be more social engagement and connections across the sailing community .
Our historic clubhouse first opened in 1930 on the point at Kutti beach and; despite care is tired and in desperate need of major infrastructure and maintenance. The last major infrastructure works completed on the club were over 20 years ago and the aging wharf structures and supporting pylons are in desperate need of renewal. The club members are seeking donations for a major capital investment to secure our club house for future generations.
