ABOUT Wagga Wagga Swiming Club
Founded in 1897 on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River, Wagga Wagga Swim Club (WWSC) stands as one of New South Wales’ oldest swimming clubs. With a proud legacy spanning over 125 years, the club has consistently championed inclusivity, community engagement, and personal development.
Today, WWSC supports more than 280 active members, from kids starting out in their competitive journey, through to adults, and operates as a not-for-profit organisation. All funding is reinvested directly into coaching, venue hire, training equipment and operational costs to maintain accessibility and sustainability for all participants.
Under the leadership of internationally experienced Head Coach Mr. Gennadiy Labara, the club delivers a structured program across five squads, catering to swimmers of all ages and abilities. WWSC is proud of its whole of club approach, supporting development at every level and providing a clear pathway from participation through to State, National and International competition, while fostering physical health, discipline, and personal growth.
This commitment to development is reflected in recent success at the national level. In 2026, 13 WWSC athletes competed at the Australian Multi Class, Age and Open Championships, with four progressing to the Australian Swimming Trials and one selected to represent Australia in the Junior Pan Pacific Team. Further highlighting the strength of our program, three swimmers have been selected in Swimming NSW training squads, including the prestigious Speedo Sharks and NSW National Flippers programs, not to mention continued success at All Schools level. These achievements demonstrate what is possible for regional athletes when supported with quality coaching and the right resources.
To build on this strong foundation, WWSC is seeking support to invest in essential resources such as coaching development, training equipment, venue hire, lane access, and competition opportunities. These resources are critical to ensuring our swimmers can continue to grow, succeed, and proudly represent their regional community. We believe every swimmer with the ambition to compete at a national level should have the opportunity, not be limited by location, and we are committed to helping them get there.
While we celebrate success at the highest levels, we believe swimming is about more than competition. It builds confidence, resilience, supports mental wellbeing, and helps shape strong, successful individuals, with every swimmer in our club a champion in their own way becoming and growing into confident and capable individuals.
With the support of our community, WWSC aims to strengthen opportunities in swimming, ensuring a positive, inclusive, and sustainable future for generations to come and we need your help to get our swimmers there and support them in shaping strong, successful lives.
