Two Central West juniors are off to the National State Championships. Water Polo Central West is raising $6,300 to help Aidan Wilson and Blake Moxon represent the ACT at the 2026 Australian National State Championships in Melbourne, 29 September to 3 October.WPCW is a new club, formed in late 2025 to carry on from Orange Water Polo and grow the game across the Central West. Both boys learned water polo here, at the Big Orange, and both swim with Orange Aquatic Club. This is our first season, and we would like to send them off properly. Aidan Wilson — ACT U17 Boys Aidan started playing in Orange in 2019 and joined Orange Aquatic Club in 2022 to work on his swimming. That same year he began training with the ACT State Team Program — a full season, no representative selection at the end of it. He came back the next year and earned selection in the first of four consecutive National State Championships. State sides draft players from outside their own borders to round out a squad, and Aidan has been picked up four years running; most players never get selected once. He was named in the Australian U/16 National Squad in 2025 and the Australian U/18 National Squad in 2026, both as a bottom-age athlete. He turns 17 twelve days before the season launch. At 201cm he is hard to miss in a pool, but it's the sprint start that gets him noticed. Blake Moxon — ACT U15 Boys Blake started at the Big Orange in 2024 — the same local competition that started Aidan — and has swum with Orange Aquatic Club for three years. Since his first season outside Orange he has represented Country NSW at the U13 National Development Carnival in Hobart, played the NSW State Club Championships and the NSW Country Club Championships, and lined up in U14 Gold Division at the Australian Youth Championships. The ACT program saw him there, invited him to trial, and selected him in the U15 Boys. He turned 14 in May and goes to Melbourne as a bottom-age player. At 182cm he is not short of presence, but the notable thing is the pace of it: three years from first game to a national championships is quick — quicker than anyone expected. Where your donation goes Playing a National State Championships costs around $3,000 per athlete: team levy, uniform, the drive or flight to Melbourne, and six nights away. We are aiming for $3,150 each so the full amount still lands after the Sports Foundation's 5% administration. Funds raised are shared equally between the two boys. Donations of $2 or more are tax-deductible. The Australian Sports Foundation is a registered deductible gift recipient, so you can claim your donation at tax time. Come and give them a send-off https://www.revolutionise.com.au/wpcw/events/376213 We're launching the club and farewelling the boys at the Water Polo Central West Season Launch — Saturday 19 September, from 6:00pm, at the Orange City Bowling Club Auditorium, Warrendine Street, Orange. Everyone welcome. If you can't get there, you can give here. They fly out ten days later.
