ABOUT Wellington Amateur Swimming Club

Wellington, NSW

Building Community Builds Success

Since 1918, WASC has been focussed on improving children's swimming skills. WASC does not receive fees from swimmers. Based on the foundations of volunteer support, we model community involvement, connection and healthy activities. With around 120 members, we aim to create a family friendly atmosphere, where children are supported, cared for, kept safe and encouraged to be their best.

We engage children from and early age for enjoyment (5 years) and focus on personal achievement. Competition skills are embedded in fun Pointscore nights. Our club supplies referees, starters, skilled timing officials and other technical officials for area carnivals.

Funding

We rely on the support of donations from local businesses. Funds raised are used to:

  • keep swimmer fees as low as possible,
  • provide coaching and intensive swimming programs,
  • reduce costs for club apparel and swimwear,
  • provide sport best equipment such as stopwatches, starters, scoreboards and timing equipment,
  • reward, motivate and engage swimmers for their achievements.
  • support pathways for swimmers who choose to represent WASC and strive to challenge themselves in further competitions.
  • instil member pride in their club though enhancing the club environment.
  • provide support for adult members who provide their skills and time supporting swimmers and swimming carnivals in the Western Area and beyond.
