ABOUT William Liitiaeinen
My name is William, and I am a 19-year-old deaf para athlete from Mandurah, Western Australia. I have been selected to represent Australia in the Summer Deaflympics in Tokyo from 15 to 26 November 2025, competing in the 1,500m and 5,000m track running events.
The Deaflympics is a prestigious international event for deaf athletes worldwide, and I am honored to have the opportunity to compete. However, participation requires a financial commitment of $6,500, covering travel, accommodation, competition fees, and team uniform. Additionally, I will need to cover my own food expenses while in Tokyo.
I have been passionate about running since the age of 12, starting at my local Parkrun in Dawesville. Since then, I have trained and competed regularly, breaking multiple national records, including the Australian T01 U20 record for 1,500m (04:18.55) and the T01 U20 and Open records for 3,000m (09:09.14).
Despite being fully deaf while training and competing without my Cochlear Implants, I continue to push my limits alongside my running coaching group, led by Suzi Graves. I am also proud to train with fellow deaf athlete Josh Reeve, who has also been selected for the Deaflympics.
I am seeking financial support to help cover the costs associated with my journey to Tokyo. Any contribution, whether sponsorship or donation, would be greatly appreciated and would help me achieve my dream of competing on the world stage.
Thank you for taking the time to read my request. If you would like to hear more, I would love the opportunity to discuss any potential support or sponsorship options with you. Please feel free to reach out any time by emailing williamliitiaeinen@gmail.com
Best regards, William
