ABOUT Willow Gudgeon
Hi, my name is Willow, and I’m incredibly excited to share that I’ve been selected for the Australian Under 15 Girls Gaelic Football Team.
While I’m new to Gaelic football, my selection came through my background in Australian Rules Football (AFL), where I’ve developed strong skills, game awareness, fitness, and a high level of commitment to training and team sport. Gaelic football shares many similarities with AFL, and selectors identified that my transferable skills, work ethic, and attitude made me a strong candidate to represent Australia.
In June 2026, our team will travel to Ireland to compete in the John West Féile Peil na nÓg, one of the most prestigious youth Gaelic football tournaments in the world. The tournament brings together teams from across Ireland and internationally, offering young athletes the chance to compete at a high level while experiencing the culture and history of the sport in its home country.
Being selected for this team is an incredible opportunity, but it is also a partially self-funded tour. Families are responsible for covering some of the large costs such as flights and some accommodation. I am raising funds to help make this opportunity possible and to allow me to prepare and represent Australia to the best of my ability.
This experience will challenge me to learn a new sport, step outside my comfort zone, and grow both as an athlete and as a person. I am committed to training hard, learning quickly, and representing Australia, my family, and my community with pride.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and for supporting my journey. Any contribution, no matter the size, is genuinely appreciated.
