Who are we?

The Melbourne Argonauts Rowing Club's core values are inclusion, fun, safety, respect and growth.

We aim to create a friendly inclusive environment for those who want to row socially or competitively. We are a club where people meet, connect and grow in a nurturing and positive environment. We're both a queer club in the rowing community and a rowing club in the queer community.

25 for 25 Appeal

We have just launched our 25 for 25 Appeal. Celebrating 25 years since the club's founding, we are looking to raise $25,000 to purchase a new boat better suited to train our emerging rowers to participate and compete with the Argonauts. We will also set aside $2,500 of this amount for an inclusion fund to subsidize 25 places in our Learn to Row program for women and non-binary participants.

Why support us?

Club membership fees only cover our basic operating costs and do not raise any funds towards capital expenditure. By supporting our 25 for 25 Appeal, you will directly enable the club to improve inclusion for all ages, abilities and gender that are constrained by current fleet and financial barriers. For an added incentive, donations of $2 or more through our ASF fundraising page are tax-deductible for Australian taxpayers.

On top of ever-increasing rent and insurance costs, we operate within a tight budget and rely almost solely on sponsorship and grants for equipment purchases. Research shows that 70% of LGBTQI+ people don’t feel like sport is a safe and welcoming space, so the Melbourne Argonauts Rowing Club provides a physical, mental, and emotionally healthy environment for this community to get together and try a sport they might not have been able to otherwise.
