News

We're expanding the ways your supporters can give to your fundraising projects by adding Apple Pay and Google Pay.

GROWTH IN MOBILE GIVING WITHIN AUSTRALIA

The way local sports fans use the internet is rapidly changing. While clubs have spent the last two years focusing on how to get back to playing sport - online giving accelerated with new Commonwealth Bank of Australia(CBA) data showing a 55% increase in the number of donations and a 61% increase in the value of donations made with a digital wallet.

The ASF’s own internal data shows that just over 70% of fundraising project page visits are now on a mobile device – and industry insights show donation conversion rates are up to 64% higher when digital wallets are available.

In fact, the CBA predicts digital wallets will soon become the most popular contactless way to pay in Australia.

INTRODUCING DIGITAL WALLETS FOR EASIER DONATIONS

To enable our fundraisers to take advantage of this growing trend, we have added Apple Pay and Google Pay to all our donation forms.

Compared to finding your wallet, manually filling out your credit card number, adding the CVV code, and then expiry date, donating with a digital wallet is a one-hand, one-click process.

We'll automatically offer the option to donate via Apple Pay and Google Pay based on the donor’s device compatibility.

There's nothing you need to do as a fundraiser. All donation pages are now updated and show Apple Pay and Google Pay automatically when applicable.

KEY POINTS

  • 70% of ASF project page visits come from mobile devices
  • 26% of online transactions in Australia are now on Digital Wallets (AFR)
  • Digital wallets are a secure transaction method
  • Donating via a digital wallet typically only takes a few seconds, and doesn't require a physical card
  • Donation conversion rates with digital wallets available are up to 64% higher on mobile devices (Raisely)
