BSYC Club Infrastructure Project

BSYC Club Infrastructure Project

Brighton & Seacliff Yacht Club has established a Club Infrastructure Project to raise funds to:

  1. upgrade the Club’s facilities, including both the clubhouse and its surrounds, and
  2. to maintain and replace the Clubs race management vessels, rescue boats, tractors and associated equipment.

Clubhouse and ground refurbishment projects aim to capitalise on our unique coastal position to offer contemporary facilities to our members and guests, promote the Club as a venue for weddings, parties and other functions, and to better use the space within our grounds.  The current ‘Shedding Project’ will provide new, secure under-cover storage for some 75 boats and club support vessels, and will free up a central grassed boat rigging and washing area.  The cost to the Club for this project will be in the order of $50,000.  Other development priorities include the provision of disabled access to the upper deck, and refurbishment of the kitchen and canteen facilities.

The Club’s Committee Boat and safety vessels are manned by a group of dedicated and trained volunteers, who operate nine power boats (Seacliff 1 to 9) and three tractors.  Operational, maintenance and replacement costs are considerable, and are only partially covered by annual subscriptions.  Funds raised will help ensure that B&SYC can continue to provide safe and professional management of our on-water events for local, national and international sailors alike.
