ABOUT THE SYDNEY ROOSTERS ACADEMY

The Sydney Roosters Academy was established in 2021. It delivers targeted coaching and development programs for players invited to participate in the Club’s Junior Representative (ages 16-19 years) and Junior Development (ages 13-15 years) programs.

With a small local junior rugby league talent pool, the Sydney Roosters have developed a strong pathways program in which players are identified and brought into the Club’s system to continue their development.

Graduates of this program include three-time Premiership winners Jake Friend and Boyd Cordner, as well as back-to-back Premiership winners Joseph Manu and Victor Radley.

The key objective of the Sydney Roosters Academy is to identify, nurture and develop the next generation of Sydney Roosters superstars.

Its high-level junior development programs provide regular interaction with Sydney Roosters Academy coaches who coach in alignment with the programs developed by the Club’s NRL Coaching Staff.

Just as integral to the physical development of members of the Sydney Roosters Academy is their development as leaders and role models for their team and community. Academy members will be held accountable for their actions both on and off the field, and will receive education and support to ensure their continued development both as players and individuals

SYDNEY ROOSTERS HOUSE

With the Sydney Roosters being a recruitment club, the importance of having a premise in which relocating Academy players can be housed is imperative to their development on and off the field.

Relocating Academy players will be invited to reside within the Club’s apartment block known as “Sydney Roosters House”. In this capacity, the youngest Roosters recruits will reside in the house as they adjust to life away from home.

The welfare of all Academy players is of paramount importance to the Sydney Roosters, especially for those relocating from out of Sydney to join the Club, and they will have Club welfare and education support available to them at any time.
