Our Problem
The Club’s current facilities are in a poor state of repair and no longer fit-for-purpose.
This is creating user and management issues for the Club and impacting its capacity to increase sporting activities for all genders, abilities and sporting interests, including introducing female football which the Club is committed to establishing.
This in turn is limiting the Club’s capacity to develop social and well-being-based programs for players, staff, volunteers and community, and constraining the Club’s economic sustainability and future investment capacity.
Our Solution
A once-in-a-generation opportunity presents to deliver a fit-for-purpose Club and Community Sporting Pavilion (New Pavilion) to support the sustainability and growth of the Club and provide for strengthened partnership and value within the local community. The Project represents a compelling opportunity to build community collaboration, share community and public assets and leverage community partnerships.
The completion of our New Pavilion will provide our Club with a complete, inclusive and thriving environment; one that will generate ongoing on field/court success and bring the Port Fairy community even closer together.
The Project stems from two critical documents both prepared by Moyne Shire - the Gardens Reserve Master Plan completed in 2019 and the Seagulls Community Sports Hub Investment Business Case completed for the Victorian Government in 2021. The Business Case included logic mapping for the investment and sustainable business planning for the Club’s future and resulted in a $1.6m commitment from the State Government for Stage 1 of the Project – a key sign from the Victorian Government for the Project’s need.
