Visit websiteTHANK-YOU! Your tax-deductable donation helps TORA volunteers and rural clubs and schools, pioneer, maintain and build upon equipment & facilities for adaptive inclusive recreation and sport in rural and regional FNQ, CYP & Western QLD (where there has been little to no funding yet). To:
- Enable people of ‘all-abilities’ to engage and be valued in sport and recreation – in rural communities with able-bodied peers - in rural & regional QLD communities where this still hasn't happened yet
- Lead by example, particularly where there has been little or no support for this to date in areas of Far North Queensland, Cape York Peninsula and Western Queensland. (# ‘Every Australian deserves to play sport’ with their peers using equipment and facilities that enable inclusion rather than continue a long history of marginalisation / discrimination against people with disabilities in community-based sport and rec in regional Queensland.
- Diversify sport & recreation for skills, uptake, engagement & retention of a broader spectrum of participants in sport & rec.
- Enable & maintain accessible sport and recreational opportunities, both:
- In natural settings. People with disabilities / mobility impairments deserve to have inclusive nature based recreational opportunities, not be marginalised from these. Not continuously be restricted to recreational opportunities in hardened natural environments or indoors
- In built environments, such as sports facilities to enable inclusion in community sports such as basketball, tennis, etc through use of sports wheelchairs that can be used by people of all abilities together, regardless of disability
5. Enable associated educational benefits of inclusive sport and recreation activities enabled by inclusive accessible sports equipment & facilities. Between able-bodied and disabled people (both ways). To break down barriers so people with disabilities in rural & regional FNQ CYP & Westnern QLD, including the Atherton Tablelands, have better opportunity to bring value, and be valued, as part of normal local sporting and recreational life.
