Defend the Island Foundation is our charitable arm, aligned with the Australian Sports Foundation. Every donation to the Foundation supports our mission.

Our Vision: To transcend the basketball court, defending our community's values and aspirations.

Our Mission: The Defend the Island Foundation will use basketball as a tool to support our athletes, both men and women, and fuel the aspirations of our future champions, whilst the Foundation enriches our community, and brings joy to Tasmanians from all walks of life.  

Background: Off the back of the historic 2023/24 NBL Championship, the Tasmania JackJumpers launched the Defend the Island Foundation, a rallying point for those who believe in the power of sports to transform lives. Our Foundation raises funds to grow the game and ensure more Tasmanians experience basketball.

All donations over $2 are tax-deductible.

 Our Foundation supports:

·        High performance facilities for Tasmanians to play basketball.

·        Athlete support, to ensure better basketballers and better people.

·        Sharing the joy; providing basketball experiences for disadvantaged, underprivileged or sick Tasmanians, especially children.

·        Access to basketball, encouraging active and healthy lifestyles across Tasmania, especially in low socio-economic areas, including improving facilities and providing visits from the JackJumpers to remote and regional parts of Tasmania.
