Team Connect is a community engagement program that supports teenage girls from traditionally low participation groups to make positive connections to school and community, using sport. Participants selected for the program are from culturally and socially diverse groups identified by their school as being at potential risk of social isolation. This unique program connects local schools, clubs and communities in a simple model that has the potential to reduce social and emotional isolation for the participants and their families and, in turn, potentially improve educational outcomes.  

Team Connect is a unique program that uses cricket to connect local school, club and community in a simple model that has a proven track record of reducing social isolation for the participants and their families. Cricket, with its extraordinary social aspect is an ideal sport for young women because it offers lots of time for building relationships and opportunities for mentoring both on and off the field.

Community sport has, unfortunately, become a privilege to which not all children have access. Children who do not have access to the benefits of community engagement are often those who would benefit most.

All girls should be offered the opportunity to be involved in community sport and have access to ongoing support as needed. Offering adolescent girls the opportunity to play team sport at a local club can create important

connections with their local community and may lead to positive lifelong relationships.  

For a child, having a sense of belonging and a connection to community may be one of the many factors that lead to a healthyand productive adulthood.  

Team Connect, with your help, supports teenage girls to enjoy the lifelong benefits of being part of a team, by supplying uniforms, equipment, transport and registration fees.

$100 will mean that a teenage girl gets her own club uniform to keep

$200 will pay the registration fees for one girl to play as a member of their local community club

$720 will pay for the whole team to have a healthy morning tea provided for 15 games over the whole season

$1000 will mean that every girl in the team will be kitted out in club uniforms, including pants, shirt and hat

$10 000 will support an entire team with uniforms, registration fees, transport, equipment and healthy morning tea for a full season
