The Metropolitan Golf Club Foundation was founded in 1990. It evolved from a determination that the standards of the Club must be maintained and the realisation that to do this the Club must rely on its own membership.
Since 2014 the Foundation has contributed more than $4M for Club capital projects, including over $2.6M for the Golf Services Wing, and $0.8M for the Brian Twite Coaching Pavilion and practice facilities. Ongoing annual funding continues for Junior scholarships, the Junior Development Program and the Golf Academy funding. Weston Bate’s 2001 centenary history book and the recently published A Walk in Our History have been made available at no cost for members from Foundation funds.
It's now time for a new membership drive to boost our Foundation. Of our Club membership of around 1,350, barely 100 are Foundation members with another 60 odd donors. You can make a contribution directly to the Club or a tax-deductible donation through the MGC site in the Australian Sports Foundation website www.asf.org.au
There are four levels of Foundation membership and donations of less than $1K are also acknowledged. Bequests are most welcome. Foundation Trustees and the Club’s Financial Controller can provide further information and assistance.
The Foundation has a major role in retaining and building upon a wonderful golfing and social history at a Championship course, great Clubhouse and friendly, welcoming membership.
The Metro Foundation now needs your support so that you and future members can continue to enjoy the course and facilities at arguably the best golf Club in Australia.
